Bandana Sharma, Ph.D.

Bandana received her M.Sc. in Biotechnology under a joint program of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) & Himachal Pradesh University, and her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from CSIR-IHBT affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Amritsar, India. Later, she did her postdoctoral training at the University of Kentucky & Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston. She joined the Claussnitzer lab because of her interest in the field of diabetes and is currently working on assessing the proliferation capacity of adipose-derived stem cells and defining the functional effect of genetic and environmental factors in the development of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. In parallel, she is leading the stem cell bio-banking effort and its downstream application to answer basic questions about cardiometabolic disease.

Outside of her work, Bandana loves cooking, listening to music, gardening, hiking and exploring nature.
